Just carry me, you bastard.

This is what goes through my head when I watch the scene where he gets the third eye for her.

Coraline slowly blinked open her eyes. Her blurry vision brought itself into focus. With difficulty, she sat up and suddenly remembered that she had been searching for something.

"The rat!"

She looked swiftly around in all directions, but realized that the rat, wherever it was, was far long gone and with it, the third ghost's eye.

Coraline pulled the other two eyes out of her bag and held them in her hand. With her finger she traced the empty space on her palm where the third one would've been.

"Oh god...I've lost the game...I've lost...everything..."

Knowing she had finally been defeated, she buried her head in her knees. A huge sob swelled up inside of her and let it out. She had let those children down, she let her parents down. She had let herself down.

"A-hem."

Coraline lifted her head to the source of the sound. The rat lay sprawled out in front of her, holding the third eye between its teeth. Its neck was covered in blood.

Dead.

With his foot on the rat's body was Richter. he had a small amount of blood on his face.

"Richter, wh..." Coraline began but was choking on her words.

"Like I said, I don't like rats at the best of times. But I think you needed this, however. Now," he said taking the eye from out of the rat's mouth and holding it towards her, "I think this belongs to you."

"B...But why would you..."

"I couldn't let my little doll get taken by someone I know who couldn't take care of her," he answered, his mouth cracking a smile.

Whether she had let her feelings overwhelm her or she had lost sense all together, Coraline found herself tearing up at Richter's words and lunging toward him in an embrace which sent them both to the ground.

Richter seemed to turn a little red at the sudden reaction. "Wow, I was expecting just a 'Thanks' but...I guess this works too."
